Our Dream Child
“A fighter child who empowered her mother like never before”
Born on August 18th, 2014
- Sana Anees, Mother of Zainab
My daughter inspired me to encourage and support other brave children & their families who are facing extraordinary health challenges. She unfolded the blessings wrapped in the challenges of my life. Zainab was born with a rare genetic heart syndrome with multiple complications. By the grace of God and the expertise of SickKids Hospital Canada, She survived the first two years of critical surgeries and complications. Going forward Zainab had ongoing health challenges. Zainab taught me to smile right after successfully passing a difficulty. I decided to stay optimistic and focused on building a happy life around my darling child. As Zainab turned six, she was diagnosed with jaw tumours, and her treatment continues till date.
When I am asked, how do I do it?
I feel a child is capable of strengthening us. The fact that a beautiful life depends on us. In my case, I feel my heart and soul are in her.
Practically, taking one day at a time, for all the challenges beyond my control. Giving my absolute best to my brave child and celebrating every success, small or big!

Our Families and Caregivers: It's true that having a positive attitude and setting achievable goals, is essential to success. Breaking those goals down into smaller steps makes it easier to stay focused. You can take each step as it comes and can easily measure your progress. Having a plan and sticking to it is also essential, as it can help you stay on track and ensure that you’re making steady progress toward your goals. Creating a schedule that allows for time for yourself is also beneficial, as it can help you relax, recharge and stay motivated.
